I want to thank all of the DEAFestival 2008 volunteers for all their diligent work. I just want to reiterate to our supporters how much I appreciate their hard work. With their commitment, and with the dedication of my staff, I have seen this festival grow bigger and brighter each and every year. I have been sponsoring this event for six years now, yet I am still overwhelmed time and time again by its success and by how many lives we touch.

The deaf/hard-of-hearing community is a population that is burgeoning in cultural relevance; one that deserves a forum for its talents and an opportunity to access better resources. Too often, the needs and achievements of the deaf and hearing impaired are over looked. With the help of our myriad hard working supporters and volunteers, this extraordinary community now has an opportunity to showcase their strengths and prove that their abilities far out-weigh their disabilities.

On behalf of my staff, the participants, and the hundreds of DEAFestival volunteers, I would like to invite you to join us and celebrate the achievements of the deaf/hard-of-hearing community with us on September 26th.

I hope to see you there!
